Questions please!

On the next weekend I’ll be at the “Free Festival” in Čakovec, Croatia.

There I’ll record an episode with “Questions and Answers”, hopefully from the audience. But if you have any questions, prefered with an image to show, send them in. Either in a comment to this page or as a mail to info@meetthegimp.org. Spontaneous answers are easier if you know the question ahead. ;-)

I would like to know why Professor Steinort was not given a 4 star hotel room, complete with free mini bar.

Other than that, well, it’s all good…

  2. Rolf Says:

Well, I got what I asked for. A place to crash with a non smoking geek. I’ll try the **** approach with the next invitation. ;-)

  3. Ger Says:

hmm, hard to read slobodni leaflet pimg eht teem ;-)

  4. Rolf Says:

I didn’t care about the writing, because nearly nobody of the audience could understand it even if they could read it. ;-) A little bit is in English on the site - but I am expecting some surprises. ;-) Quite an adventure - I haven’t been in ages in a country where I know really nothing about the language.

As for the website: Google has a nice translator, that can translate between several languages, including Croatian and English:

    Or perhaps German:

    I have an offtopic question.

Though I know this tutorials since a longe time, I now started seriously with learning from it.

My question is, do you also look to comments from old episods.

    Thank´s Rudl

  7. Rolf Says:

Yes, I follow all the comments - they are feeding my ego. ;-) And some offer possibilities to enhance certain body parts and have to be weeded out.

I usually answer faster than just now. End of term and the trip to Croatia….. BTW, I am writing this in my hotel in Cakovec just before breakfast and the “Live Recording”. And I am a bit nervous. ;-)

    Hi Rolf!
Ok, I will post the first question - maybe you can say some words about it…
I love HDR images and used this technique quite a while under Win with Photomatix. But since one year I only have Linux anymore and therefore the tool Qtpfsgui. Basically a neat tool but I am absolutely not happy with the results of the tone mapping.
Then I heart a lot of DRI. Principally the same, but without a 32bit step in between. At the first approaches I used Gimp for creating some DRI - hiding and revealing special parts of each layer (each containing one picture of different exposure) with masks. That’s possible but it lasts forever and especially around borders of objects it’s not always that clean. Do you know about an automation (an external tool or a script for Gimp) or simply a better method than the layer approach?

Here is my last result, you can use it in your show if you want to:

If you need the basic photos just mail me… :)

    Thanks a lot,
    Mathias
