If you ever wanted to look an image forensic specialist over the shoulder while looking at some nice “enhanced” imgages – have a look at the Hackerfactor. Be sure to look for the link to the sequel and finale and also check out this nice Bikini model. Poor girl – some bones are missing and her fingers have been hit by a magic spell – they cast no shadow. This page also has a follow up.

Running the Server costs 20-30€ a month and this is covered by your donations up to December 2010.
Everything that is donated from now on until I put the hat on the floor again in November 2010 will be used to finance books and other stuff that goes into the show.
The GIMP project is also happy about your donation!
IBAN/BIC available per mail at info@meetthegimp.org - this way I get all the money.

I found the analysis very interesting. I’d very much like to learn how to create (and interpret) those forensic images in gimp!

Me too! I’d love to see how to run such an anaylsis in the GIMP or get some nice little filters for ELA and stuff. Oh, I forgot that christmas is already over. To bad.
I think this could be a reason to use the Octave plugin, connecting GIMP and Math software. But the math is over my head…

In my opinion the unretouched picture is more interesting, but maybe people (like US) prefer barbie dolls.
The article – as well as this link – illustrate an interesting problem. Where to stop? [The article calls it the
'Just one more' phenomenon]. Teeth whitened, check. Eyes brightened, check. Boobs inflated, check.
