I try to explain the stuff that influences the quality of your images. File formats, compression, sensor size. Each solution has pro and cons - you have to decide what you need and want.

All the file formats are explained at Wikipedia.

Some stuff about sensor sizes. Quite old but still true.

And this are some of the guys with the big sensors.

    Hello
Thanks for these videos, I am finding them really useful in learning how to use both the gimp and ufraw. I do have a couple of questions:
    1. Can you show us how to automate tasks in the Gimp? I used to use this a lot in photoshop and it would make my workflow much faster.
    2. I have only come back to using the Gimp because it now features colour management (I’m using 2.3.18 on Ubuntu), do you know of any image viewers available on Linux that also feature colour management so that I can view my picture correctly.

    Thanks again

Automation is a uncharted area for me - but it is on my list. I will cover “David’s Batch Processor” and writing scripts sometime.

I don’t know about colour managed image viewers.

    Hi.
I just wanted to tell you that the link “12″ at “Getting the older shows” doesn’t lead to episode 12, but to 11. You should fix this.

  4. Rolf Says:

    Thank you! I fixed that.
