There is a simple answer: I am a (more passionate than talented) photographer and my skills as an graphics artist are good enough for doodles while using the phone. ;-)

You indicated a bias towards using GIMP for photographic work yet I do not get that impression from the show title "Meet the GIMP!" I can understand wanting to focus the show but it could cause a misconception in what the show is really about. Perhaps you should not limit the show to using GIMP for photographic work. This is just an observation and maybe an idea but it is not intended as a criticism. : )

And again I learned one of those little, nifty tricks: select an area, copy it to the clip board, et voilà, a new brush is at your disposal.

By the way, it is possible to use Adobe Photoshop brushes (extension abr) in GIMP. So, if you find such a brush which is just what you need, try it in GIMP. Fair chance that you won't be disappointed.

Thanks Rolf for the show.

Hi -

Just wanted to point out a little script I wrote for GIMP to aid in the creation of rotating brushes. These are animated brushed/image hoses where the drawn brush will rotate depending on the direction of travel.

The quick how-to is over at the GIMPTalk forums:
